We then quickly began building our own chapel on the hotel grounds. The shell was finished in no time, with both the inner and outer walls constructed from our own larch and pine wood. The stained-glass windows were made to measure in Val Venosta; the door and the cross come from the Hainz locksmith in nearby Villabassa. The bell, dedicated to St. Andrew and with its distinctive tone, was donated by the Steffen family and cast in the Grassmayr bell foundry in Innsbruck, Austria. The statues of St. Christopher and Virgin Mary, which decorate the chapel, come from the Aurina Valley on Italy’s border with Austria. Furnished tastefully and with love, our chapel has become a real eye-catcher.
In a much celebrated ceremony in May 2014, the Quelle Hotel chapel was finally opened and dedicated to St. Christopher, who was one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers and who is also the patron saint of travellers.
